About Dub Mission:
Recently voted Bay Area’s “Best Reggae Club” by S.F. Bay Guardian readers and now in its 18th year, DUB MISSION is one of the longest-running parties in the world, presenting cutting-edge dub, roots reggae and dancehall every Sunday at the Elbo Room.
The idea was to present the more cutting-edge side of the music (i.e. all forms of dub, progressive roots reggae and dancehall) that was heard much in Bay Area clubs at the time. Luckily this period of time has also coincided with a great resurgence of interest in dub music through onstage performances and re-issues. Artists and DJs from all over the world and the U.S. have performed at DUB MISSION. A partial list includes the U.K.’s Adrian Sherwood & the ON-U Sound System, Mad Professor & the Ariwa Sound System, Zion Train, Overproof Sound System Prince Fatty’s Sound System, Twilight Circus Dub Sound System (Holland) Florian Seyberth of Boozoo Bajou (Germany), Dubblestandart (Austria), Pitch Black (New Zealand), Yossi Fine of Ex-Centric Sound System (Israel), The Scientist, Nickodemus of Turntables on the Hudson, Tino Corp with Jack Dangers &, Ben Stokes, dr Israel, Dubtribe Sound System (special dub set) and many many others. We have also devoted special nights to the music of various reggae greats including Bob Marley, Lee Perry, King Tubby, and Prince Far I. We look forward to another year of riddims and laughter, with many more great shows to come.
